Dr Qian Zhu has reported on a range of coal combustion related topics covering air pollutant emission control technologies, clean coal technologies and low-rank coal combustion since 2002. She has also produced reports in other areas such as CO2 abatement from cement production. Qian joined the IEA CCC in 1999 as a database manager, managing and maintaining the world coal-fired power plants database (CoalPower) and several other inter-linked ones, as well as the Emission Standards database.
After receiving her first degree in Chemical Engineering, Qian was involved in R&D on sulphur and CO2 removal processes for semi-water gas produced from coal gasification. She then studied for her PhD and completed 10 years post-doctoral work at the Northern Carbon Research Laboratory, University of Newcastle-upon-Tyne. While working at NCRL, Qian published more than a dozen research papers in journals such as Langmuir, Carbon, Fuel & Energy. [email protected]
