Poland is represented on the IEA CCC Executive Committee by Dr Ireneusz Pyka and Ms Lucyna Szołtysek. They both work at Glowny Instytut Gornictwa (GIG) (the Central Mining Institute).
Central Mining Institute is a research institute reporting to the Ministry of Economy, working not only for the mining industry, but also for companies in various industries including small and medium enterprises, institutions and offices of state administration and local government, foreign partners. Currently, the four basic pillars of GIG activities are: mining, environmental engineering, quality issues, and education and training.
GIG is one of the most valued partners in such business areas as waste management, recycling of raw materials, energy maintenance and modernization of the energy sector and business communities, optimization of water and wastewater management, environmental monitoring, program of cleaner production, eco-development programs of municipalities and regions.
